There is Versus COM, Time Attack, and Task Mode. There are also 8 modes including "Beat-O-Matic" where you can capture and analyze music.

Planet Quest
1P Versus COM mode. 5-10 stages with 5 levels of difficulty.
Survival Four
1P vs 3 COM Battle Royale. 5 stages with 4 levels of difficulty.
Co-op With COM
Join a COM and engage in a 2 vs 2 battle. (1P + COM1 vs COM2 + COM3)
10 stages with 4 levels of difficulty.
Time Attack
Try to be the first to get the target score. 3 modes: Short (1 million points),
Long (20 million points), Endurance (10 billion points).
Task
Clear all given tasks. Try to be the first to complete all the tasks.
Beat-O-Matic
Capture, analyze, and synchronize your own music from a music player or an
Xbox 360 Hard Drive. Your music can be used at any time during the game.
Watch AI Battle
Watch computers compete against each other.
You may pick up on some interesting tips.
Music Player
Listen to the different BGM in the game. The player comes with a sound analyzer,
which allows you to see the beat and flow of the song.

There are 4 modes: 2 Player, 4 Player Versus, 2 VS 2 Team Battle, 2 Player Co-op.
Battle on your Xbox 360 console or have an online battle on Xbox LIVE.

2 Players Versus

2 Players Co-op
2 Player Co-op VS COM. Work together with your partner to beat the COM.
10 stages with 4 levels of difficulty.
4 Players VS
4 Player Battle (1P vs 2P vs 3P vs 4P)
Compete locally on your Xbox 360 console or engage in a match via Xbox LIVE.
4 Players Team VS
2 Player Co-op VS 2 Player Co-op
Compete locally on your Xbox 360 console or engage in a match via Xbox LIVE.

Before starting a game in Co-op With COM mode, you can select the type of CPU (Partner AI) in the screen above.
When you clear each stage, you will obtain a bonus point.
If you split your bonus points with your Partner AI, you can strengthen the AI.
The Partner AI has the following 4 type of attribute and it will affect the play style.

Speed
Accuracy
Hyper
Friendship

However, the friendship level will automatically be adjusted depending on how you play.

This shows is a Time Attack game.
This measures the amount of time it takes for you to reach a certain amount of points. These are the 3 different settings:

Short-- Target score is 1 million points.
Long-- Target score is 20 million points.
Endurance-- Target score is 1 billion points.

The game will end when your play field is filled before you reach your goal. Your time will not be recorded.
In a time attack game there is no difference in difficulty level with regard to the color of the Pieces.
You can set the number of colors in the time attack game by going to Help & Options-> T.A. Piece Numbers in the Settings.

The screen above is Task Mode.
Here, you compete for how fast it takes to clearing the 12 tasks. There are 9 levels of difficulty.
In Task Mode, scores become insignificant. The tasks will be displayed at the top left of your screen.
The current chain session will be displayed at the top left of the screen. The following information will be displayed:

Task - Current task number.
Chains - Current number of chains.
Pieces - Number of eliminated Pieces due to chain.
BB Lvl. - Beat Bonus Level when the current chain was started.
Chain Score - Points obtained from current chain.
